Yes. I'm posting this four months later. Its been on my list of things to do...
The very last full day of our trip we planned to drive back to the LA area from Palm Springs so that we could be closer to the airport. Unbelievably, and excellently, we found out after planning the trip that the Red Sox were in town. So, off to Stub Hub we went and got ourselves some fantastic tickets.
It was a dramatic night. Connor managed to connive a game ball from the field staff by hanging down at the wall and taking off his Red Sox hat. He then convinced us to hang out by the player exit to maybe get an autograph---this all at 9:30 pm with a baby in tow. Somehow, in melee at the player exit he dropped the game ball out of his glove and didn't notice that it fell out until sometime later. I really can't describe adequately the hysteria that ensued. The crying. The screaming in huffing by the father that he is irresponsible. The stranger that began yelling at the crowd that whomever picked it up better hand it over. It was pretty miserable and a lousy way to end what had been a good night. That same stranger gave Connor and extra ball that he had, but it wasn't the same and the long walk back to the hotel at 10pm was not pleasant. It was pretty miserable and a lousy way to end what had been a good night.
