That's how many hours remain until we depart for 15 days in Hawaii. Hopefully, if the tippage stops, it will be one of our trips of a lifetime. (In case you were wondering, the tippage does continue--poured rain here last night and I left my sunroof open. Nice.)
Packing insanity is in full force. Piles of stuff everywhere, bags in every room, lists of things not to forget on every flat surface. Connor is suddenly OBSESSED with hockey and is insisting that we bring his hockey sticks to Hawaii. Ummm. No.
We'll have 5 days on Kauai, a week on Maui, and 3 days on Oahu. Talked to our concierge at the Westin Ka'anapali yesterday and he said the seas have calmed down (winter is over) and the weather has been spectacular. Pictures above are from our first trip to Maui and Oahu in 2001. I'm going to sit right under that same palm tree on Wailea this time and take the same shot. Connor wants to go to the top of Diamond Head, but somehow I don't think he can handle the 99 stairs to the top. He'll have to imagine it.
My personal challenge this trip is going to be to try to take some great photos. We have a spectaular Nikon full size digital that I've never really learned to use except as a point-and-shoot. I've packed the manual and bought something called a "Cheat Sheet" from Bert's Photos that I read is super helpful for camera idots. http://www.photocheatsheets.com/ I'll be studying on the planes.
Off to the mall for last minute purchases. It seems that my son has 30 pairs of shorts and only 4 or 5 summer shirts that fit. Old Navy, here we come.
